"TWO FOR A PENNY" Matthew 10: 29-31
Artist interpretation: In this painting are two common sparrows, with their worth--a penny--between them. Sparrows...so common, so numerous, so little value...such is the thought of man. So much so, that he wonders this about himself. As one of many, he questions... "Does God know who I am?"
"Does God care for me?"
"Does God hear me?"
The background images remind us, yes they are two of many...yet they are seen clearly by the Father valuable to Him! Perched in the temple area, the perky male and female joyfully face each other. Their uplifted heads direct our eye to the many sparrows in the background. In turn, these sparrows direct our eye to the center of the painting...a cross appears illuminated. Thus, God among the many...God among us...
God, the Father, knows right where we are.
For not one sparrow falls, that he knows not...how much more valuable are we to Him!

"SIRAH'S PEACE" John 14: 27
Artist interpretation: "Peace I give to you, not as the world gives...". Christ said He gives us peace, this "heavenly" peace is depicted by the angel. We see it is complete peace-whole peace from the top of the angel's head to the tips of the angel's toes. Obviously this peace is not from anything of this world. If we let Christ reign in our lives He promises us this same peace. This is the peace of Christ...which passes all understanding.

"HE DWELT AMONG US" Inspired John 1:10-14
Artist interpretation: A inspired visual of Jesus,
as he sternly and kindly looks out for us.
Strong, rugged,
willful, uncompromising,
kind, loving,
immoveable...
ever-present Saviour.

Bible reference: Isaiah 53, Matthew 3:16-17 & 28:20, Luke 2:52-53, John 1-chap. 25

Personal Note: As an artist, attempting to paint a portrait of Jesus was out of the question. How could I paint Him without divine revelation, His face was beyond my imagination. In 1998 I was home after a serious stay in the hospital. My emotions were running high. I was laying on my bed praying, praising the Lord, crying out to Him. All of a sudden I was overcome with indescribable peace and through my tears I saw His face. Awestruck by what I saw and felt, I could only soak in His presence. At that moment everything cloudy about Him became clear. There was no need for words. The awesomeness of His strength, love, and kindness illuminating from His eyes, was physically felt in my inner most being. I knew I was in the palm of His hand. Afterwards, I didn't want to forget one detail, so I sketched the face I had encountered. Later, I painted this portrait for myself, and now I share it with you. I'm not saying I know what he looks like, but this is how Jesus looks to me.

"THE GOOD SHEPHERD" John 10: 10-18
Artist interpretation: As we look at this painting we experience a feeling of peace, rest and assurance. It's a new day, the sun is rising and sheep are grazing. High on the hill we see a cross, inscribed upon it "the good shepherd", watching over his sheep. The sky glows with a golden yellow, symbolizing the divinity and sacredness of that which is depicted. And purple representing God the Father, His presence filling this place. The cross: symbolic of the crucifixion of Jesus is God's ultimate sacrifice of love for mankind. The cross overlooking the sheep: casts its' shadow which stretches forth reaching out among them, just as Christ reaches out to us today. Let us remember, as we look up to the cross, to look up to Christ. We aren't to be distracted from Him, looking away to the left or right, forward or behind us, but to set our eyes and mind upon Him. He is The Good Shepherd, He will lead and watch over us, his sheep. We see six sheep, the number of creation, in six days God created the heaven and earth. And as a result of the crucifixion of Christ, God created a new covenant between Himself and man. Christ chose this crucifixion because He loves us. He sits at the right hand of the Father, however, He hasn't left us. He is among us today...still the good shepherd taking care of His sheep. Why so few sheep? As it is written, Jesus said, "for narrow the way that leads to life, and few are those who find it". The Good Shepherd, the Prince of Peace..."knock and the door will be open to you"!

"THE ANOINTING" Ezekiel 47: 1-12
Artist Interpretation: This painting portrays a vision from God to Ezekiel the prophet. As written in scripture, Ezekiel and a angel /man have come through the temple of God. They are on the east side of the temple as the angel begins to show Ezekiel some things--
first, we see they are where the water flows out from the temple, as a small stream. The angel directs Ezekiel into the water...it's not very deep, only to his ankles. They move further along, the angel measures the same distance each time and directs Ezekiel into the water. The water gets deeper and deeper, up to Ezekiel's knees, his loins--finally the water is so deep he cannot cross. The stream has become a mighty river, one would have to swim to cross it! At this point the angel tells Ezekiel to pay attention to what he has seen. Ezekiel looks around and sees the fruitful, tree-lined riverbank. The angel tells him, wherever the water flows it will bring life!
In this painting the water represents the anointing: the Spirit of God, the temple is symbolic of God, and Ezekiel represents us, God's children. The anointing (water) flows out from God(temple), as we step into His anointing it grows. As we get deeper and deeper into it, we will get to the point that we can be swimming in it---consumed by the anointing of God!! Wherever the water flows...whatever His anointing touches, it brings life...abundant life!! "...fresh water to the Dead Sea...fresh fruit each season...the leaves will never dry out, because they will always have water from the stream that flows from the temple, and they will be used for healing people."

Bible reference: Mark 16:17-20, Luke 4:18-19, Acts 1:8, ICorinthians 2:9-16 & 12:4-6, IICorinthians 3:6
